The guiding principle of the Phoenix Rising Method is engaging yoga as a transformative experience to create a life of greater contentment and in harmony with your unique nature. This change is easier when done through the body rather than through cognitive processing. There are six phases to the Phoenix Rising Yoga and Meditation Class, with transitions in between. Each phase moves progressively deeper, beginning with a focus on the physical body and progressing toward inward contemplation. The process is anchored by embracing an edge and breathing, to gradually shift from mental activity to a more direct, present-centered experience in the body, and focusing on the wisdom that arises. In the final phase of the Phoenix Rising process, we bring back cognitive awareness to help us integrate what stood out in the practice and apply it to life off the mat. The class will conclude with a short theme-based talk and guidance to apply the theme in the following week. You will learn how to listen to your body to bring more wisdom, clarity, tranquility, and contentment to your life. NOTE: You'll need enough space to be able to swing your arms Recommended props: meditation cushion, pillow, bolster or chair, blanket, strap (or scarf/towel)
This class is appropriate for all students with all experience levels, including new and beginner students who are still learning the basics.
Gentle, with slow sustained movement on the mat.

I get to choose the challenge in this class. I love consciously choosing how far I stretch and how long I stay in it. I am sometimes surprised at my thoughts pushing me to stay longer, or go deeper, than my physical limits. I’m learning to listen to my body, and not be concerned about how I show up.

The pace of this class is great. I’m invited to only do what’s right for my body. I can relax and enjoy the whole class. I’m not concerned about doing moves perfectly, or copying.

I loved the gentle stretching, yoga poses and breathing exercises. The class was very smooth and went from one set of movements into another effortlessly. The guided meditation was the perfect culmination to a very strengthening, relaxing and enjoyable experience.
