SPECIAL CLASS: Restorative Yoga for Seasonal Stress Relief

Sundays at 3:00pm
120min

About this Class

Come celebrate the spirit of the season and give yourself the gift of stillness by opening your heart and taking some time for self-care. It's easy to feel overwhelmed this time of year which is why you need yoga more than ever right now. Restore your vitality, boost your immune system, and realign so you can show up authentically for your family and friends with peace and ease. Restorative yoga is a relaxing, supportive practice that reprograms the nervous system by shifting you out of the stress response into the relaxation response so you can deeply rest and rejuvenate. This is done by gently stimulating different organs and portions of the body with a gentle stretch. Numerous props are used to assist this process. This means that no effort is necessary as you restore the body’s natural capacity for health and healing. Yoga is the calm in the storm of the merry-making madness. This class is accessible to all students and will allow you to relax and center your body and your breath, balance the yin and yang and lead you through a deep healing and revitalizing experience. Prema will guide you into a state of deep rest. All of the postures are supported by multiple props which helps you relax and release with greater ease. BENEFITS OF RESTORATIVE YOGA: •More resilience in the nervous system •Improved immune function •Increased blood circulation •Greater endorphin secretion (which boosts a sense of well-being) •Heightened levels of self-awareness •More balanced emotions •Lower cortisol and adrenaline production in the body (that result from stress) •Reduced muscle tension •Less self-doubt and worry •Less resistance to the unknowns in life You will need the following props for class: •1 large bolster (or firm cushion, pillow) •1 small bolster (or firm cushion, pillow) •2 blankets •2 blocks (or books) •additional cushions and/ or towels •eye pillow (or washcloth) •sandbag if available
