Welcome to the Summer Stretch Challenge! August has a particular feel to it - the light shifts, schedules tighten up, and there is that unmistakable hint of fall on the horizon. After months of summer activity - travel, gardening, hiking, sitting in the car for road trips, sleeping in beds that are not your own - bodies tend to hold a lot of accumulated tension by the time we get here. Who is this for? Everyone. Whether you spent the summer moving nonstop or barely moving at all, these classes meet you where you are. Everything is accessible, everything is modifiable, and there is no pressure to touch your toes. This is about releasing, not achieving. Why Stretch? Stretching is not just about flexibility. Slow, sustained release work is one of the fastest ways to shift your nervous system out of stress mode - and one of the easiest ways to feel better in your body without needing a big time commitment: - Less tension and pain: Regular stretching releases the chronic tightness that builds up over a busy summer. - Better range of motion: Keeps joints healthy and movement easy as you head into fall. - Calmer nervous system: Slow, held stretches tell your body it is safe to relax. - Better sleep: Releasing physical tension makes it easier for the body to settle at night. To complete this challenge, take 3 classes from any of the following categories included but not limited to: - Stretch & Release - Decompress & Rest - Gentle Movement - Yin Yoga - Restorative Yoga - Yoga for Beginners - Tai-Chi / Qigong - Functional Mobility - Back Health - Chair Yoga Here's all you have to do: 1. Sign Up: Take any 3 eligible classes during August. 2. Feel the difference: Notice how giving your body permission to release changes how you sleep, breathe, and move.
