An all-levels practice to “floss” the tension out of tight shoulders and a stiff neck. This class will focus on joint mobility, releasing pent up tension in the muscles that support the shoulder, neck and upper back, while strategically training these areas to be stronger and more supportive for those long days at work, or after a weird night of sleep. Recommended props: yoga mat or chair, 2 blocks (or books) Also meets: Tuesday, Thursday
This class is appropriate for all students with all experience levels, including new and beginner students who are still learning the basics.

Niki took her first yoga class at 12 and has been a student of the practice ever since. Her philosophy is that yoga is as much about what happens on the mat as what your mentality is all day long - managing stress, choosing love over fear and overcoming excuses. She holds an advanced Psychology degree from the University of South Florida, and is registered as an E-500 and Y.A.C.E.P. with the internationally acclaimed Yoga Alliance. Yoga is for every body, and her style is down-to-earth. You’ll move, and you’ll learn a lot, too! Expect variations of postures, modifications, props, breath work and specific cues to advance your own practice, class by class.

Niki's Yoga for Tight Shoulders and Neck class is the perfect little "bite-sized" yoga class. It's amazing that in just 30 minutes, she can help you feel relaxed, grounded, and stretched. As a beginner to yoga, this has been the perfect class to get me oriented to sitting and just "being" in myself. Niki's approach to yoga has been so accessible and welcoming. She demonstrates and explains each move and pose and then actually monitors the class to make sure that you're understanding. Her gentle reminders throughout class to respect your body and to meet it where it is has helped make me feel like yoga is indeed for me! I can't recommend her classes or style enough.

This is a wonderful class for anyone interested in unlocking the years of stress buildup in the shoulders and neck. A person can go at their own pace and will see great results with some commitment.

It's a calm and informative primer on how to properly move your body to unlearn bad habits and gain some good new ones. Niki has a positive vibe. This is incredibly uplifting, especially now that I am losing ground physically.

Great class...my first Yoga experience targeting areas beginning to freeze up on this old veteran. I was a bit hesitant about a zoom format but the experience was great. I was directed to this class by the VA and I truly appreciate the opportunity.

I've taken this class regularly for more than 6 months. We frequently do a thing where we make circles with our heads, as if we're tracing the face of a clock. My clock's gears would grind at 2:00 every single time, but Niki tells us to breathe through it and go slow. Yesterday was finally the first time I had no grinding, and it felt like such an accomplishment!
