6 Good Questions with Jessica Haynes

Published 5/9/2024

Please say hello to Jessica Haynes! She's been with Ompractice for just over 5 years now bringing us her Aloha Afternoons - Slow Flow on Tuesdays at 5pm ET / 2pm PT and Decompress & Rest on Saturdays at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.

A student had this to say about Decompress & Rest: Jessica gives so generously during this class and asks for nothing in return. You literally just show up and do your best; you cannot get it wrong. It's a very easy, restful, peaceful class infused with kindness, warmth, and acceptance. A great mindful wind down from the week.

We hope you take the time to practice with Jess! If you can't make a class, be sure to check out her videos in the Video Library.

Who are your classes for? What kind of vibe can people expect in your class? What is your teaching style like?

It is a very relaxing class with deep stretches and gentle holds. We spend time breathing and pondering emotional, intelligent questions and yoga philosophy. You can expect a yummy class with encouragement and a mood boost!

How did you get into yoga? Do you have other favorite types of movement?

I think we all simply return to yoga. I read that somewhere and I think it is true. I returned to yoga towards the end of college and the beginning of my teaching career around 2010. I was an elementary school teacher working in facilities around the country and truly needed a way to have a positive way to release pressure and stress. I tend to enjoy slow Yin styles, yoga nidra and savasana!

What's the most valuable lesson you've learned from your own practice? What does yoga mean to you?

Yoga is for everyone is a lesson i learned. Not just the flexible and wealthy. In fact, I believe yoga is a way to have true riches within ones self. To me yoga is the unification with our creator. A pathway to God and a way to heal.

Do you have any pets? We love our #petsofompractice ❤️

Yes! her name is Lia and she is a fun little dog. She is about 16 now and we adopted her a few years ago.

For fun, we always like to have a few extra credit questions:

  • What's one life changing product under $25 you'd recommend?

    • I have to say a nice water bottle that you can refill throughout the day. Especially when traveling. It helps me stay hydrated and I like that it is friendly to the earth by reducing the need to waste plastic water bottles.
  • Most delicious bite of food lately?

    • Everything at the Local Joe West cafe. We opened a cafe last year and I eat there a lot. The specials are so amazing and we had one named the Pesto Bagel created by a team member that was very yummy and on a homemade everything bagel with bacon and pesto.
